How We Leveraged Omnichannel Advertising To Sell High Ticket Programs Online

In this case study I’m going to break down how we helped one company with a high ticket offer go from “burning money” with their ad campaigns to generating multiple six figures in profit.

Background 

From “Burning Money” On Ads To Six Figure Campaigns

Andrew came to us after doing sporadic advertising, running the ads himself, and working with freelancers who weren’t getting great results. 

His business was already a big success. 

He had an amazing product, tons of happy clients, a growing community and had done multiple seven figures in sales with SEO, PR and outreach.

But on the advertising side he hadn’t been able to make it work.

“Before it was a huge headache. It wasn’t getting results, I was dumping money in only to have total frustration.” – Andrew

He had tried other agencies, freelancers, and even running ads himself. 

He dealt with the usual frustration of seeing more money going out than was coming back in, he wasn’t able to clearly track the ROI from investment, and he even got kicked off both Facebook & Google at one point for policy violations.

The stress was causing a strain in his whole business. 

At the end of the day he could not manage advertising himself and he just had not found the right people to help him crack the code on advertising.

That is until we got connected with him.

Challenges

When we first started working with Andrew we dove into his business to review and assess where we were starting from.

We did a full deep dive analysis: His offer, both ad accounts (Google & Facebook), the campaign strategy, ad copy, ad creatives, landing pages, funnels, email follow up, all of it.

We reviewed every aspect of his customer acquisition process.

Our initial review showed us his ad accounts had the standard “set it and forget it” strategy most agencies use with ad campaigns.

There were a few campaigns set up on Facebook and Google targeting one or two audiences with one or two ads.

Nothing was being optimized or managed on a regular basis.

The two major issues we identified to address first were:

1. The offers and landing pages that were running on the ad platforms were not designed for advertising channels. They were created for organic social media and SEO that were being repurposed for paid advertising.

2. There was no clear creative testing strategy or ongoing optimization happening inside the account.

Both of these issues were leading to their advertising budget being inefficiently spent and unable to scale over time.

Strategy

There are a lot of variables to prioritize and optimize when it comes to setting up winning ad campaigns: offers, platforms to run ads on, strategy, messaging, creatives, landing pages, complex campaign settings, tech, tracking. The list goes on and on.

In order to get quick wins we focused on the two most important levers at the start of a new campaign for companies like Andrews that have a lot of content and assets already built out: offers & messaging.

We dialed in on one specific avatar we wanted to speak to and listed out the assets the company already created that we believed would attract our ideal customers. 

We then implemented a process to test personalized, authentic and compelling copy directed at a few offers we believed would convert best with cold traffic (cold traffic: ads targeted at people who had never heard of the brand before).

Once we found the highest converting offer, we then directed the majority of the budget to that offer and focused on testing ad copy and creative variations while we optimized the offer with better landing pages and adding in automated email marketing follow up.

Once we had a proven, winning message on Facebook, we expanded our campaign over onto YouTube and set up omnichannel retargeting on all major platforms.

Finally we took over emailing and following up with the leads coming in from paid advertising to make sure we maximize the conversion coming in Andrew’s advertising investment.

In the end we were able to help Andrew:

  • Determine the best offers for paid advertising 
  • Set up a funnel specifically designed for paid advertising 
  • Set up real ROI and LTV tracking so he can track down to the dollar his return on investment from his advertising
  • Optimize the funnel with conversion rate optimization
  • Set up ad campaigns on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Google Seach
  • Run retargeting campaigns on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Google Display Network
  • Automate and optimize his email marketing for new leads coming in from paid ads
  • Have regular communication with his entire database through broadcast emails two times per week

But the best part for Andrew is that while all of this is happening, he doesn’t have to do any of it.

He has a team that can handle all of this for him, report back on results and he can focus on running his business, getting his students results, creating new opportunities for growth and creating content for his business.

The Hard Numbers And Results

While most agencies are out there churning and burning through clients, we’ve been working with Andrew and his team for over 14 months at the time of this case study.

We’ve helped Andrew generate over $1,200,000 in sales from his core program (monthly continuity not included) and he’s earning between $3 – $4 dollars back for every dollar he invests with our team.

More importantly Andrew now has multiple channels to generate revenue from Facebook, YouTube and his growing email list without having to micromanage contractors, freelancers or underperforming agencies.

What’s Coming Next

Going forward we’re planning to continue growing his business by scaling up his campaign off Facebook to increase traffic from other platforms like YouTube and LinkedIn.

We’re also going to be working with Andrew later in the year to roll out a new high ticket offer for his current customers and monetize his customer list even more while growing his brand and establishing him as the leader in his industry.
