As business owners, a lot of time is occupied with finding new clients and looking for new strategies to find clients so our business can thrive.
But something that isn’t talked about enough is how to choose the right clients for your business.
Actually that alone is the 80/20 of being successful in the service-based business world.
Especially if you’re just starting out or switching up your service offerings, the clients you choose can make or break your success. It’s that serious.
Nothing will speed up your business more than having huge success with a well-connected client who will introduce you to their whole network.
That one quality client could open up the doors for you to many more clients like them down the road.
On the other hand, nothing will slow you down like spending 12 months working with a small business that gets little to no results so you leave demotivated, with no referrals and no case studies.
This is why picking the right clients from the get-go is vital for your long-term success.
With that said I want to dive into how you can choose the right clients for your business that will make a huge impact on your long-term success
Let’s get into it.
How To Choose The Right Clients
Whether you’re a newbie freelancer, agency, expert, coach, or consultant, choosing the right clients is really 80% of the battle.
When people get started and end up struggling to get results for their clients, oftentimes it’s because they’re working with the wrong clients.
I made this mistake when I first got started as a freelancer offering my media buying services.
It was easy to work with local businesses because they were all excited to have someone who could run their ads for them.
The challenge was that most of those businesses weren’t actually ready to run ads.
They lacked the infrastructure and foundation that they needed to be in place for results to happen.
They either didn’t have a converting funnel, a sales team, and just a general lack of backend infrastructure to follow up and get the results we both wanted them to get.
This resulted in working with them for a few months only to find them frustrated that they weren’t getting the results they were looking for.
Moral of the story…you can spend all your energy trying to do everything for these businesses and you’re still not going to get them results if their business is not ready.
You want to choose companies who are ready for what you offer so you have the opportunity to do what you do best and get them results.
Say “no” to everyone else that doesn’t fit the bill.
Conclusion
Now it’s time for you to get picky with choosing your clients!
Take the time to learn which clients are right for you and your business and this will help pave a way for success that’ll last long into the future.
